Portland Ice Arena opened in December, 1984, with a seating capacity of 750. The Arena contains four locker rooms, skate sharpening services, skate rentals, and a concession area. The skating season extends from July through April.
Regular skating groups include public skating, ISI Learn to Skate classes, private rentals and figure skating.
Other groups include Casco Bay Hockey Association, high school and middle school hockey, women's hockey, Greater Portland Oldtimers League, adult industrial league and the AHL Portland Pirates.
During the skating year an estimated 60,000 people use this facility as either active participants or spectators.
